Who do I contact if I see a child who seems to be in a dangerous or troubling situation?
Call 189 ("Ichihayaku"), Japan's nationwide child welfare consultation line — it connects you to the nearest child guidance center to report concerns like abuse or a child left unattended. If it feels urgent, 110 (police) works too.
189 accepts anonymous reports, and the caller's information is protected — you're welcome to call even if you're not fully sure, just concerned.
Even with a language barrier while traveling, calling 110 (police) or 189 will likely get you connected to interpretation support.
