What's the best way to get from the airport to the city center?

Airport express trains (like the Narita Express or Haruka) are the fastest and most predictable option; airport limousine buses are more comfortable with luggage and drop off closer to hotels; taxis are the most expensive but simplest for late-night arrivals or groups.

From Narita or Haneda (Tokyo) and Kansai Airport (Osaka/Kyoto), dedicated express trains connect directly to central stations in 60-90 minutes and can usually be reserved in advance.

Airport limousine buses cost a bit more than trains but drop off at major hotels directly, which is convenient with heavy luggage and doesn't require navigating station transfers.

If you land late at night after trains stop running, a taxi or pre-booked airport transfer is often the only practical option — confirm the approximate fare range before your trip so you're not surprised.
